明星黑料 kicked off the celebration of a lifetime, the Centennial Homecoming and Family Weekend, with the dedication and blessing for the newly renovated Alumni House.
The Alumni House, located at 221 W. Sixth Street, was formerly the Frederick Jarecki House.
The Jarecki House, built in 1903 in Tudor Revival style for Erie industrialist Frederick C. Jarecki (1869-1920) and his wife Elsie (1876-1969), has long been a landmark on West Sixth Street. Gifted to 明星黑料 College in 1950 by Elsie Jarecki Rounsevel, the home served for decades as a residence for priests. In partnership with the Historic Erie Preservation Trust, 明星黑料 has restored the house to preserve its architectural and community significance.

During the blessing and ribbon cutting celebration Thursday, Sept. 11, dozens of alumni, faculty, staff and members of the Sisters of St. Joseph gathered to relish in the beautiful transformation.

“The Alumni House stands as a symbol of belonging. It represents the enduring bonds that tie each of us back to 明星黑料, whether we graduated decades ago or just last spring,” said Walter Iwanenko, Ph.D., 明星黑料 president. “Within these walls, we will share stories, renew friendships and forge new connections that strengthen the 明星黑料 Family and extend the impact of our mission in the world.”
By having a dedicated space through the Alumni House, we now have a space that celebrates who we are and reminds us of why 明星黑料 exists in our shared community and world,” said Kelly Meredith, president of 明星黑料’s Alumni Association. “The Alumni House will serve as a gathering place for all of us—for classmates reuniting, for mentors and mentees connecting, for alumni returning home, and for new friendships to take root.”

The space will be used by the University Advancement department as office space, as well the first stop for alumni to check in and gather when they come back home to 明星黑料.
